Dolls Awards of Excellence Rules |
|
|
|
1. Each entry must be accompanied by two copies of a clear, color photograph (One full body and one close-up of face). Each photograph must be at least 1,200 by 900 pixels. No disks, transparencies, printed pages or slides will be accepted. These photographs become the property of Jones Publishing Inc., and may be used for promotional purposes. Photos must be good quality color prints. If nominated, your photo will be used in our magazine.
2. Entries must be photographed against a plain, flat, solid color background. Each entry must be photographed separately. Only props or accessories sold with the doll are permitted in the photograph. Photographs should depict the entry completely (i.e., the full doll must be shown) and accurately.
3. All photos must be labeled with the name of the doll and its maker. List both the sculpt designer and costume designer, if different.
4. Any doll introduced after March 1, 2009, is eligible to be nominated for an award. The entry must be a new, original design. It must be commercially available in the United States in the year 2010 for sale at the retail price given on the entry.
5. All one-of-a kind dolls must be entered in the one-of-a kind category. Entries in the remaining categories must have an edition size of at least two.
6. Participants may submit multiple entries in each category, but nominations are limited to one nominee per company per category. Nominees will be notified by June 4, 2010.
7. The doll must be a posable representation of a human-like character. A design can be nominated for an Award of Excellence only once, regardless of changes made in size or medium.
8. If the doll is a prototype, it must be constructed of the same materials as the production dolls. If, in the opinion of DOLLS magazine, any nominated doll changes significantly from the photographed example, in appearance, costume or price, or if the doll is not available for sale to the public during the year 2010, the doll will be disqualified from the competition.
9. Judges will rate dolls based on the following criteria: • Overall aesthetic appeal • Excellence in concept, design and execution • Quality of material and workmanship • Value represented by the price and quality
10. The entrant will be advised of or contacted to review any category changes or disqualifications by the DAE Awards Coordinator. The above instructions must be followed to be considered for nomination. Entries must be received before March 1, 2010, to be considered.
